Driving Sustainable Change: United Way Greater Toronto Launches Annual Campaign

Any Way We Can campaign builds on last year’s success and rallies all partners to continue taking bold action to build an equitable GTA

September 9, 2025 (Toronto, ON) – United Way Greater Toronto (UWGT) is launching its fundraising campaign this year with plans to continue building bold and long-term sustainable solutions to strengthen local networks across Peel, Toronto and York region.

Following last year’s successful launch of the Any Way We Can campaign, the organization will continue to mobilize individuals, workplaces and organizations to support the work within the neighbourhoods that face the toughest challenges.

Through its ground-breaking research, public policy, advocacy and fundraising work, UWGT is stepping up to achieve the goals of its 10-year strategy to create community impact, including building 10 new community hubs in the GTA by 2035. Through UWGT’s Community Real Estate (CRE) Initiative, 240,000 square feet of community service space has already been secured or improved, and the long-term goal is to invest $100 million in permanent space for nonprofits to stabilize essential services and help to build more resilient neighbourhoods.

In my many years of work in the sector, I have seen first-hand how United Way transforms the lives of individuals, families and neighbourhoods by collaborating, driven by the common goal of uplifting our communities, so that no one gets left behind. I have experienced at the grassroots level how United Way, year after year, has been strengthening our region. As we kick off this year’s campaign, I invite all our partners to take bold action like never before, to help amplify our impact and stay united in our commitment.

This year’s community campaign also welcomes Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary at Thomson Reuters Norie Campbell as Campaign Chair. Norie Campbell, who has been a volunteer and donor at United Way for decades, held the role of UWGT’s Chair of the Major Individual Giving Cabinet in 2020 and previously served on the senior leadership team of TD Bank Group.

The 2025 Campaign is a chance for individuals, workplaces and organizations across Peel, Toronto and York region to take action to move us one step closer to reducing the direct impacts of poverty in our communities. I am privileged to chair a Cabinet of great leaders who really care and who are willing to go above and beyond to make a difference. The 2025 Campaign will build on the foundation of our long-standing and dedicated volunteers and donors while reaching newly engaged supporters that are inspired by the important work of the United Way Greater Toronto.

Additionally, 20,000 people received mental health supports via UWGT-funded agencies. Over the next three years, United Way is investing $71 million in Community Action Grants supporting 250+ programs providing food security and income-support across Peel, Toronto and York region.
