2024 Mississauga Mayoral Debate

On May 29th, United Way Greater Toronto, Sheridan College, Mississauga Board of Trade and the Metamorphosis Network will host leading mayoral candidates for a debate on the critical social and economic challenges facing Mississauga. The debate will provide residents of Mississauga with an opportunity to hear the candidates’ vision for the future of the City, which is celebrating 50 years since its incorporation.

Mississauga has seen tremendous growth in its development into a major urban center. The City has also seen a steep increase in need for affordable housing, food security and access to social services.

This debate will provide the residents of Mississauga a vital opportunity to hear directly from the candidates vying to represent their interests. Candidates will discuss critical issues that impact residents across the city and present their plans on building a vibrant and inclusive community where everyone has an affordable place to live, a good job and a voice in shaping the City.

The event is co-hosted by community, education, and business sector partners, each bringing unique perspectives yet sharing a common goal: to build a thriving, inclusive Mississauga. Together.

In line with this goal, the debate’s lead-up will include a community consultation across Mississauga to ensure that the concerns and priorities of residents, students, community organizations and local businesses are featured in the debate. The organizing partners also share the goal of enhancing voter participation and providing an inclusive platform that engages diverse communities, including those often marginalized from decision-making processes.
